* Chicken with Plums by Marjane Satrapi
published: October 2008Witty and brilliant as ever. Chicken with Plums is a story about Marjane's great uncle, Nasser Ali Khan, who decided to die after his wife broke his beloved tar. The story is both tragic and dramatic, yet i couldn't help chuckling now and then while reading and translating. And i found myself amazed at the main character's determination to die. I guess i didn't realize before that it takes a lot of will (and desperation) to do that. Not to mention the slow and painful method that he chose to achieve that (is it really an achievement?)
